Istanbul Box
Yet another example of an artisan using a Blog. Simone Walsh, who is a jeweller, is lucky enough also to be a web designer and it shows. I think this is one of the best designed artisan blogs I’ve seen. Some of you might think, that it’s not all that important how a blog looks, so long as the content is good. Unfortunately statistics show that most of us make up our mind whether to look at a websites or move on within a split second.In this time you cannot assess the content of a page, so it is clear that most of use make this initial decision based on aesthetic rather then content.

Paul - Hi dear. I am going to click over and take a look at this blog. And you are so right about the blog look. I actually sent another blogger a Moroccan lithograph to do a new banner for me and so far nada. But I have changed my mind about what I want and am thinking about posting a notice on Alchimie on etsy to see if I get any offers. What do you think? I really want something beautiful and I am willing to pay for it.

Yes I must admit I was half thinking of your blog when I posted this. Your blog design is better then most, but it doesnt match the quality of your content for me. So yes I would strongly advise you to get a web designer to look at it.
Alan O Rourke who often comments here is a top web designer, so I am going to drop him a mail to ask for advice.
If you want to save money, you might consider using a service like Rentacoder.com. You can put up project for bidding on it and you usually get dozens of offers from various professional programmers from all parts of the world. Like Ebay there is a rating system for the programmers, so you can feel confident in dealing with them. If you want to try this, I can help you do up the project scope.
But first lets see what Alan say’s as he’s the expert.

Thanks so much Paul. That would be great - any advice that Alan could give. I want to work in the guest house design picture (maybe in painting form?) and have a large banner that is seamless with the rest of the blog. Super idea for rentacoder - I had never heard of them.
PS Sitting out in the garden with my Dad and the wireless. So nice.
