Riverman
This is a beautiful but very melancholic song from Nick Drake. It’s doubly sad when you realise the kind of life he lead. He was a painfully shy individual and found it almost impossible to converse with people, by all accounts. He died at 26 from an overdose of anti depressants. There are no video recordings of him in existense, hense the photographic background to this video. I’ve rarely heard a song that represents melancholic fatalism as well as this.

I love Nick Drake’s music. It’s so sad he never got to know how much it’s enjoyed.

I particularly like the line ‘I’m going to see the riverman, going to tell him all I can about the ban on feeling free’
