A Blog is a Personality and a Community
![]()
From an Artists perspective, blogs can be used as an inexpensive way of presenting your art online. Each blog post could represent a picture of your latest work, with a little bit of background information. You might say that this is the conservative approach to Art blogging.
Many bloggers, on the other hand, prefer to embellish their presentation with their own personal insights, fantasies, experiences and anecdotes. In my view, they are the more successful in terms of creating a community and encouraging loyal and active readers. When I say active, I mean that readers will tend to respond to the artists posts with lots of comments.
Take this recent post from Jenny Vorwaller, which garnered over 100 responses. Jenny has been blogging fo 4 years now. Her personal and imaginative style of blog narrative has helped her build a large and enthusiastic following. Jenny talked about her experiences with blogging in my series of interviews with successful Artisan Bloggers. I highly recommend reading through her blog to get a sense of the personality of blogging and see how much more community driven it is in comparison to most art websites.
In my next post, I will talk about how much more dynamic blogs are in comparison to websites.
