I have to disclose, I suffer from a terrible addiction. For several months now, I have been trying to wean myself off it. Yet every morning, as if enchanted, I return to slake my thirst. The object of my desire, is not some illegal substance, although perhaps it should be made illegal. It certainly has a strange disorientating effect on me. It takes me to places, I wouldn’t normally go. It almost feels sinful at times. I can’t help myself, really.

This object has a voice, a beautiful siren like voice, that lingers in the air and lures me to it. I do my best to resist, but resistance is futile. Many a time have I fallen lovelorn on her rocks, yet I keep coming back for more.

Is there any hope for me? Can someone deliver me from this fatal intoxication? Yes, maybe you guessed it, the source of my addiction is a blog. Maryam from Marrakesh who comments so much on my blog, I almost feel embarrassed about it (not really though;-)), is the culprit. She and her creation have lead me down this slippery path of decadence and now I hear that she has been nominated for a Bloggy, I fear there will be no end to my torment.

I can’t overstate how delighted I am for Maryam, not least for her perserverence with me and my blog, but also because of the wonderfully entertaining, generous and enlightening quality of her blog and her writing. The image you see above, is a typical example of the sumptuous images you will encounter on her blog. Though, it’s far from a blog about pretty pictures. Maryams writing is beautifully crafted, sensual, full of charm, wit, fun and erudition. She paints an irresistible and enchanting picture of Marrakesh, and if you dare to visit her blog you will end up just yearning to drink mint tea with her in her by now legendary olive grove.

So, its with a heavy heart, that I entreat you to visit Maryams Blog and consider voting for her in these awards, as I fear I may lead you down the very same path that others have followed to end up like poor Tim Buckley, broken lovelorn on her rocks;-)
